Meet Dr. Matt
Jerald S. Matt, DMD
Dentistry has given me the opportunity to help people obtain, improve, and maintain their health and well-being. I am most passionate about helping people stay healthy. It is a privilege to get to know my patients and their families over the period of the treatment. This is especially true when patients who have grown up receiving the best oral care through my office trust me with their children's dental care. I love seeing the results of my work, and the enjoyable experience I have getting to know each patient throughout his or her procedure is something I've never taken for granted. It is fascinating getting to know so many different people, and I look forward to each returning and new patient that enters my doors. This is the benefit of being a dentist — it is a fulfilling job that really impacts others' lives.
Education and Continuing Education
I graduated from University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1988. I remained committed to my education following my formal education by maintaining a fellowship with Academy of General Dentistry from the time when I graduated with my Doctorate of Medical Dentistry. This requires that I spend more than 500 hours in various courses and professional development meetings each year. Less than five percent of dentists nationwide maintain this level of commitment. I am currently working up to the next level called the Mastership Track as well as a fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
I feel that dental care benefits from the many new developments in technology, and the best way to provide my patients the highest standard of care is to be up-to-date with the newest techniques and materials. It is exciting to see how the advances in dentistry provide more options for patients over time.
Community Involvement
Giving back to the community that has already given me so much is very rewarding and important to me. I also like to think that I am doing my part to make the world a better place. My office participates in Donated Dental Services, which provides free dental care to those in need. It is a national program. I volunteer for numerous activities and fundraisers at my children's schools, and my family participates in community service days put on by the schools and our synagogue.
Outside the Office
I was born in Ithaca, NY, and happily moved to Lafayette Hill, PA. I have lived here for almost 20 years and have settled down quite nicely with my wife and our three children. I am an avid road and mountain cyclist. In the summer of 2011, I rode the French Alps for six straight days during the Tour de France. It was the trip of a lifetime, and I hope to repeat it in 2013. I use my passion for community service by cycling for multiple fundraisers during the summer. I also love skiing with my family every season and attending my children's various sports activities.
